LAI Focus Area Contributions to International Structures

GCOS

GCOS target requirements for LAI were set as follows (GCOS-200):

Variable/Parameter Horizontal Resolution Vertical Resolution Temporal Resolution Accuracy Stability
LAI 250m N/A daily Max (15%) Max (10%;0.25)

The LAI focus area of CEOS LPV plays a key coordination role and lends the expertise to address actions related to validation of global LAI and fAPAR measurements as identified in GCOS-200. CEOS LPV specifically contributes to IP-10 Action T3 (Liaison with ICOS, TERN and NEON underway protocols so continuous in situ observations can be applied for validation), T4 (Good Practice Protocol and recommendations, the Online Validation Platform Exercise (OLIVE). Additionally LPV LAI and fAPAR contributes towards action items T35, T36, T37, T40, T41.
